Safe Families For Children

Safe Families for Children of Lane County seeks to “Make a Safer Place for Children” by enlisting and training faith-based host families to provide respite care to children whose families are experiencing a temporary emergency.

Our aim is to engage the faith community to meet the immediate needs of a child thru respite care, so that Child Welfare intervention is not needed to keep the child safe.

We Believe that parents may go through times in which their ability to meet the needs of their children change. When factors like housing, finances, employment, health and lack of extended family support prevent a parent from providing a healthy home, we are here to offer temporary help. Parents retain legal custody and caring volunteers provide the safe environment for the child so the parents can get back on their feet. Our role is to provide resources and support for the child as well as to encourage and motivate. It is not about looking back, it’s about looking ahead.

We have volunteers ready to serve in South Lane County and are presenting to churches in the Eugene/Springfield area Fall 2016. Please Email if you are interested in becoming a Safe Family or believe your church should be involved.
